From Anton on a recent vehicle repair -
Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of a phone call from Kitsap’s REAL team, looking for help with some vehicle repairs for one of their clients. They were about to have their home, along with all of their belongings towed and impounded because the starter had gone out in their vehicle. The powers that be gave them only four hours to move it or lose it, all while offering no tools or resources to actually meet those demands except, I suppose, for connecting them with the REAL team.

When I received the first phone call from the REAL team, I was actually out with my Brother-In-Law playing a rare round of golf to celebrate his birthday. Over the course of probably about an hour and about a dozen phone calls and texts punctuating my slices and divots, we managed to make arrangements for one of our amazing mobile mechanics to pay the REAL team’s client a visit.

Not only was our skilled mechanic able to save this neighbor from losing everything including the roof over his head and the only thing keeping him warm through the winter, but being mobile again made it easier for him to attend meetings and remain independent to pursue his goals. Some elbow grease on the phone along with $400 in parts and labor made a difference for someone in our community. Vehicle repair services are one tool in Northwest Hospitality’s belt to support our neighbors and strengthen our communities. The larger our community of donors is, the more flexible and useful we can be in responding to our neighbors’ various needs. Thank you!

Please share a donation today to help us continue making our community healthier and supportive.
