March 2024 Newsletter

We had an amazing time at our Annual Benefit a couple of weeks ago, everybody had a blast, but it didn't meet our needs for funding. We should be covered through the year on operating costs (website, licenses, etc.) but we didn't bring in enough to support our programs needs. We have a lot of pending requests and upcoming needs to meet including travel costs to get someone back to their family where they will have support, animal care costs, basic living essentials, so many vehicle repairs, and rent assistance - over $15,000 in total, that we could spend right now to help our neighbors if we had it.

Please share a donation today to help us continue making our community healthier and supportive.

Curious about “Miscellaneous” and “Flexible Financial Support?” We sometimes cover the cost of non-standard items and so we track them in these catch-all categories. Flexible Financial Support is typically funds that have been spent through our Hospitality Card program to cover small individual needs. We also take great care to report impacts accurately so if a person is given some funds to purchase gas, for example, but they don’t share a receipt with us, we will often enter that as “Flexible Financial Support” unless we have other evidence that the funds were actually spent on gas - we get quite a few vendor details through the PEX platform. This helps us share an impact with you but not misrepresent that impact if we aren’t certain how the funds were spent. When we can’t be positive, that is an opportunity for us to have a discussion with people and build a relationship. Over time, we get to see people share more details and needs with us. Miscellaneous varies by month; this month it included, a car payment, a loan payment, and renter’s insurance.

Robert, along with help from volunteers Alyce and Jessica, has been working extensively to connect folks with clothing and other supplies from the NWH Mobile Closet. He has been so extremely busy in the community, in fact, that we haven’t even gotten his efforts listed in the monthly Impact for the last two months. But trust us when we say that shirts, pants, shoes, and coats are getting out to the people in need.

The NWH Mobile Supply Closet is a trailer we use to meet folks where they are at; providing hygiene items, clothing, blankets, etc. Thank you to everyone that has donated to the closet.

Thank you to everyone who supports our work of helping those in our community that are experiencing homelessness or unstable housing. We couldn’t do any of this important work without your support.
