Emergent Needs
This month has been a big one for mutual aid emergent need responses. We have worked with Kitsap Mental Health Services on three occasions to put 6 people (including 2 youths, one older woman, and one person with a disability and severe chronic medical conditions) plus one pet into hotel rooms as they are transitioning to longer-term housing solutions.
With your help, we are providing a vital service that can’t be met any other way - we’re filling a significant gap in the care the system provides to people who are working to improve their circumstances. Keeping people off the streets and out of tents while they’re working through these other programs makes the other services more effective and efficient.
This is also one of the most capital-dependent services we are able to provide through our nonprofit. Over $1,500 for these 15 hotel nights is quickly eating through our resources and we’d like to be able to continue offering this kind of support.
