2019 The Numbers

We got a lot done together last year!

Volunteering

We had the honor of working with some fantastic volunteers through 2019. We planned environmental hospitality and hygiene kit assembly events, worked with volunteers through Kitsap’s Day of Caring, and partnered with Olympic Ambulance in Sequim.

In 2019, 136 different volunteers contributed over 1,500 hours cleaning trash from our neighborhoods, assembling hygiene kits, and helping us put on our annual benefit.

22 events properly disposed of more than 23,342 pounds of trash that was littering our environment.

5 assembly parties put together 1,074 hygiene kits (927 universal kits and 147 feminine hygiene accessory kits) which were distributed to people throughout Kitsap, King, and Snohomish counties.

THANK YOU to everybody who volunteered and to all looking to volunteer in 2020!

Hospitality Cards

In 2019, you helped us move this powerful program from the limited but ubiquitous Subway cards, to a parent/teen card operated by Current, and finally to an amazing card from PEX which gives our team amazing control and flexibility to both empower advocates and directly support people struggling to survive in the streets.

In 2018, you helped us use our Subway cards to provide 109 meals. In 2019 it gets a bit more complicated because our new cards and special project outreach have a much broader reach. It’s been a top priority to accurately track our impact so we can share it with you and our future donors. In 2019, thanks to your generous donations and outreach, we were able to provide our neighbors the following services:

New Partnerships & Programs

We have had the pleasure of partnering with Kitsap Neighborhood Little Pantries and look forward to helping the team who built that great program continue to grow with the additional tools and support that we can provide. They are looking to add 11 new pantries to the county in 2020 and we can’t wait to help stock, build, and install to support our friends and families struggling with food insecurity.

The Resource Database, kicked off in 2016 to help print locally-curated resource lists for our hospitality kits, has evolved into a very impressive online tool thanks to a great friend of NWH, James Jensen, doing some skillful coding for us. As we grow the database, already almost 800 offices strong, it will be a valuable tool for individuals and organizations throughout the state to find the key resources they need in one central location, quickly and efficiently.

Funding

You helped us MORE THAN double our annual donations from $8,460 total raised in 2018 to $20,790 raised in 2019! 220 donors came together to contribute and support the people we are all passionate about serving and we are extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish together.

With these additional donations, a larger portion goes to our programs. In 2018, 70% of our total expenses were for programs and in 2019 that was up to 78%.
